I am asked that question at least ten times each week.
There is no longer a debate about the impact of social media. We have all agreed that it is here to stay. What is, however, up for discussion is how to properly leverage social media for the best impact and ROI.
I recently had the opportunity to deliver the keynote address at one of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) regional “Face2Face” events in St. Louis. While there, I had several very interesting conversations about the nature of social media adoption on college campuses in the context of recruitment. Many in the room felt that students had little to no interest in social media for recruiting based upon the results they had seen from assorted surveys. I disagree and I believe that the issue with the surveys is that they are asking the wrong question.

Pharmaceutical industry jobs cuts have numbered almost 300,000 in the past decade, with the heaviest cuts, nearly 235,000, in the past six years. However, the job cuts in recent years are not necessarily recession-related. Mara joined HP in 2000, and she has held several HR roles in Italy, including HR Operations, Rewards and Staffing. In January 2006, she moved to the EMEA Staffing team as a Program Specialist. Mara has a degree in Modern Literature and holds a Master’s degree in HR and Communications. She is based in Milan, Italy.
Mara currently manages sourcing channel strategy for HP’s EMEA region permanent hiring efforts, including strategic hiring initiatives in the region and globally. As the talent attraction program manager, she also has responsibility for employment branding continuity throughout all markets in EMEA, and she is account manager for all sourcing vendors, including social network and recruitment agencies.

19,600 in hospitals, 45,600 in ambulatory care, 17,500 in nursing and residential care facilities and 16,500 in physician offices. Those are the new numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics on the total (99,200) of new health care jobs during the first quarter of 2011. The industry is climbing out of the status quo that we have experienced for the past two years and seeing positive changes in the environment.
