Monster Leads the Way to Compliance with the OFCCP

In response to a new rule published by the Department of Labor's Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP), which defines "Internet Applicant" and details new recordkeeping requirements involved with Internet and technology-related resume database searches, Monster has developed product enhancements to assist affected employers and improve the overall recruitment and hiring process.

The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) enforces Executive Order 11246 and other laws that prohibit employment discrimination by federal contractors. The new rule, which went into effect on February 6, now requires nearly 20,000 U.S. federal government contractors and sub-contractors to provide accurate records about their interactions with applicants.

An increase in career searchers using the Internet and other technology to apply for or inquire about jobs has made it difficult for employers to determine who actually qualifies as an "applicant." The OFCCP is attempting to prevent this confusion with its specific, four-criteria definition of "Internet Applicant."

Monster, which had been monitoring the regulation since it was first proposed in 2004, now offers its customers free training and educational materials about the rule and Monster's own product enhancements. More than 1,000 federal customers have already opted-in to Monster's OFCCP-related features, including Job Posting and Resume Search tools.
